Step into "the coolest little shop in town" at 206 North Buckeye Street and let the magical experience begin. JR and Lois McIntire founded Crystal Wand Creations while stationed in Hawaii over 20 years ago. They began doing custom stained glass and jewelry commissions during that time and with subsequent moves to Canada and Colorado, ultimately decided to return to JR’s home state of Indiana in spring 2002.

They call their shop "the coolest little shop in town" with reason — it is. Both JR and Lois retired from the military. Serving their country afforded them the opportunity to travel to many destinations and experience a variety of cultures. They’ve always been enamored with unique and intriguing items, and have filled their shop with things that have appealed to their senses over the years.

"We simply love Kokomo," says JR, "and being able to have a shop downtown in the heart of this wonderful community is totally amazing."

They especially love the reaction of customers when they visit the shop, hearing "oh, it smells so good" or "I feel such a calmness and serenity when I’m here". That was the goal when Crystal Wand Creations opened the doors. "We wanted a place where people could find distinctive items such as Tessa Mae candles, Kamini & Chandrika bath soaps, essential oils and Kama Sutra products, enhanced by a loving and peaceful environment," says JR. "There’s so much stress and anxiety in our daily lives we felt blessed to be able to offer a sanctuary for those feeling the need to re-energize."

A child of the ‘60s, JR was enamored with the spiritualistic power of incense. While visiting temples and shrines throughout Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore, he found a renewed appreciation for the variety and unique aromas of these herbal blends. The shop features a variety of incense from around the world- the majority being hand-rolled and features natural ingredients.

Crystal Wand Creations also offers beautiful jewelry and stained glass, gemstone massage wands handmade by a colony of artists in Goa, India, unique gemstones, a large selection of ceremonial herbal smudge sticks, herbs and herb supplies, books on a variety of topics, hand crafted leather-bound journals, tarot decks and a selection of divination tools.

For musicians, they have an assortment of Native American flutes by Kenny King and Tibetan singing bowls for meditation, music relaxation and personal well-being.

The staff at Crystal Wand Creations is composed of talented and compassionate practitioners whose services include certified life coaching and intuitive spiritual consulting by Lisa Whybrew. Available by appointment, Whybrew has unique intuitive abilities that assist her in efficiently and effectively talking to clients and developing a plan with positive results. Retired Kokomo firefighter Jeff Harvey teaches Qigong (pronounced Chi Kung and means cultivating energy for health maintenance, healing and increased vitality) Thursdays from 5 to 6 p.m. Law student Kari Bird is available by appointment for Tarot readings.

"We are excited and blessed that we are approaching our one year anniversary in June and to celebrate will be offering a beer and cheese sampling on "First Friday", June 7th from 6 to 9 p.m.. Lisa and Jeff will be on hand to meet customers and talk about their services." says JR., "We wish to thank Kokomo for supporting our endeavors and allowing us to continue to be a part of this amazing community."
