A women’s conference “Meet Me at the Well” with the topic of “He Knows My Past, Present and Future” will be held at In His Image Church, located at 2040 E. 50 N. in Kokomo, on Friday, Sept. 29, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 30 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will include breakfast and lunch. The Kokomo Parks & Recreation Department is now accepting team registrations for the Men’s and Women’s Winter Basketball Leagues with the deadline of Oct. 20. This league is for adults age 18 and over. The fee for the Men’s Winter Basketball League is $508 per team and includes a 10 game schedule followed by a single elimination tournament. Roster must have a minimum of 8 players and a maximum of 15 players. The Women’s League is a 3 on 3 league which plays ½ court with a one man referee system. The fee for the Women’s Winter Basketball League is $250.00 per team for a 10 game schedule. Rosters must have a minimum of 3 players and a maximum of 5 players. Completed KPRD roster forms must be submitted with the entry fee to register a team for either league. Both leagues are schedule to begin on Sunday, Nov. 5. Security Federal Savings Bank is accepting submissions for its Lights, Camera, Save! video contest. The contest, organized by the American Bankers Association Foundation, is a national competition that encourages teens to use video to communicate the value of saving money and inspire their peers to become lifelong savers. Security Federal Savings Bank will award the top three local winners $125, $100, and $75, respectively. "Lights, Camera, Save! gives Indiana students an opportunity to harness their creativity, learn about using money wisely and communicate those lessons with their peers," said Annette Russell, President and CEO. "A strong financial education is critical to a successful future and we are thrilled to participate in a contest that reinforces that message.” To participate, students (ages 13-18) must create a video, 90-seconds or less, on saving and using money wisely and submit a link to the video along with a completed entry form to the bank by Dec. 1. Security Federal will host the first round of judging and select a winner to compete on the national level for a prize up to $5,000, plus a scholarship for a teacher at their school to attend the annual Jump$tart National Educator Conference. Videos will be judged on their quality, message, content and the criteria set forth by the contest's official rules.
